Silver Lake

Also known as Mattakeunk Pond, Silver Lake, is a 530-acre lake in Penobscot County, Maine. The location offers year-round activities including fishing, boating, hiking, swimming, skiing, and some paranormal activity, too!

Sally Weir is the ghost that is known to haunt Silver Lake. In the late 1800s, she worked as a maid and prostitute and was brutally murdered. There are several stories surrounding her death but some say her ghost haunts the area waiting for her murder to be solved. Other stories say her soul is restless because she was not properly buried. Supposedly the police kept her head for evidence, and it was never restored to her body.
